Error messages

Use your browser’s find (Ctrl+F or ⌘F) to look up the message you saw. Where a message contains a number, such as a count or a time, the number is shown here as ….

  • An upgrade card. Plan and credit limits show up in the chat as a plain card with the sentence and a See plans button. That isn’t a crash. The chat works again as soon as the limit is lifted.
  • A red box in the chat. Other failures appear in a red box, often starting with “Something went wrong.” and then the message itself.
  • In the assistant’s reply. When a tool is refused, for example an image, the assistant tells you why in its own words. The wording varies, but the meaning matches the entries below.
  • A small pop-up in the corner, for settings pages such as Connectors.
  • In your terminal, for Aderra Agent, Claude Code, Codex and your own API code.

“You’ve used today’s 10 free messages. They come back at 00:00 UTC, or Aderra Plus is $20 a month (or $200 a year) — upgrade to keep going. Thank you for helping us launch.” The Free plan includes 10 messages a day, and you’ve used today’s. Choose a plan, or buy a credit pack, on the Plan page. Buying credits also lifts the 10-message limit. If Aderra can’t reach the model, the message isn’t counted. A reply that was cut off or cancelled still counts.

“You’re out of credits for this period. Top up or upgrade your plan to keep going.” Your credit balance is used up. Chat, images and video all draw on the same balance. Your plan’s credits refresh at the start of your next period, and the Plan page shows when. To keep going now, buy a credit pack or choose any amount under Or choose your own amount.

“You have used your credits for this period. Top up with a credit pack, or move to a larger plan…” (said by the assistant) You asked for an image or a video and your balance can’t cover it. Buy a credit pack or move to a larger plan on the Plan page. Nothing was charged.

“Images come with a paid plan or a credit pack; video and explicit images with the Pro plan. Your chat keeps working on Free…” (said by the assistant) Free doesn’t include images or video. Your chat keeps working. For images, choose a paid plan or buy a credit pack; video and explicit images need Pro or Max. Nothing was charged.

“The Fast image model was refused at its price limit” (said by the assistant) Rare: the fast model’s price went above its limit. Nothing was charged. Switch the Image model menu to Best quality, or try again later.

“Image editing requires Best quality.” This shows in the Image model menu, and the assistant says it if you ask for an edit on Fast. Edits run only on the Best quality model. Switch the Image model menu to Best quality and ask again. Nothing was charged.

Explicit images, or any video, on Plus (said by the assistant) Explicit images and all video are included from Pro. On Plus, and on Free with credits you bought, the request is declined before anything is made, and nothing is charged. The assistant may put this as “your plan does not include image generation” or “you do not have enough credits”. Buying a credit pack won’t unlock these; only Pro or Max does. Any non-explicit image still works on your plan. See Images and video.

The image request couldn’t be checked (said by the assistant) Below Pro, requests to the uncensored image models are checked for explicit content first. If that check doesn’t answer in time, the request isn’t sent and nothing is charged. The assistant may report it as a failed image request. Try again in a moment.

Building a website, app or deck on Free (said by the assistant) When you ask for a page, app, game, dashboard or slide deck on Free, the assistant says it needs a paid plan and offers what it can do in plain chat instead, such as an outline. Apps and pages (artifacts) are included from Plus. See Build apps and pages.

“Connectors are available on paid plans. Upgrade to connect Aderra to your other apps.” This shows on the Connectors page on Free. Choose any paid plan to add your own servers. See Connectors.

“The terminal — Claude Code, Codex and API keys — is included from the Plus plan. Chat in the app keeps working on Free.” This shows on the Connect page on Free. The terminal needs Plus or above. For your own code, API keys on the Developers page work on every plan. See the API.

“This conversation is about …k tokens, over the …k context window of the … plan. Start a new chat, or shorten this one (in the terminal, /compact).” The conversation is longer than your plan can read at once. Start a new chat. To carry context over, ask Aderra for a summary first and paste it into the new chat. In Claude Code or Codex, run /compact. Paid plans have larger windows, and the Plan page lists each one.

“This conversation has grown too large to send to the model…” Usually caused by a large file or several images in the conversation. Start a new chat, attach a smaller file, or run /compact in the terminal.

“The response is incomplete; it’s either still processing, was cancelled, or censored. Refresh or try a different prompt.” The reply stopped before it finished. Refresh the page. If the reply is still cut off, send the message again, or rephrase it.

“This can take a few minutes. You can switch tabs.” This isn’t an error. Long jobs such as building an app or a deck, or making a video, show this notice. Click Notify me when it’s done to get a browser notification when the reply finishes.

“The model is busy right now. Try again in a few seconds.” The model is overloaded for a moment. Wait a few seconds and send again.

“The model rejected this request. Try rephrasing, or start a new chat.” The model couldn’t process this request. The cause is often an unusual attachment or a very long conversation. Rephrase, or start a new chat.

“Aderra couldn’t reach the model. Try again in a moment.” Something went wrong between Aderra and the model. Try again shortly. If it keeps happening, tell us. The problem is usually on our side.

“Error connecting to server, try refreshing the page.” Your browser lost its connection to Aderra. Refresh the page.

“Only … messages at a time. Please allow any other responses to complete before sending another message, or wait one minute.” You have too many replies running at once, for example in several tabs, or you sent again while a reply was still coming. Wait for one to finish. Hitting this limit over and over can lock your account for a while.

“You hit the message limit. You have a cap of … messages per minute.” You sent messages very quickly. Wait a minute, then continue. Hitting this limit over and over can lock your account for a while.

Most of these come back from the image tool, and the assistant passes them on in its own words.

The standard image model refused (said by the assistant) The Best quality model follows its provider’s content filter. If the filter blocks a prompt, the image request fails and you aren’t charged. The assistant may simply say the image request failed. Rephrase it. For adult requests, see what Aderra will and won’t do.

“The image provider failed. This was not charged.” or “The video provider failed. This was not charged.” Usually temporary. Ask again. If the same prompt fails twice, the filter may be blocking it, so rephrase.

“A video needs a starting image.” Video is made from an image. Create or attach an image first, then ask to animate it.

“There is no image to edit.” Attach the image you want changed, or create one first, then ask for the edit again.

“Media limit reached: at most … images per reply.” (or video, said by the assistant) One reply can make up to 4 images and 1 video. Nothing was made or charged for the extra ones. Send another message to continue.

“Video generation costs credits for every second. Allow this video to be generated?” Aderra asks before every video. Choose Approve to make it, or Reject to skip it, then Submit. Nothing is charged if you reject.

“The image price exceeds your selected limit.” The image would cost more than the model you chose allows. Nothing was charged. Try again later, or choose the other model in the Image model menu.

“This tool belongs to a server you connected. Allow it to run?” The assistant wants to use a tool from one of your connectors. Check what it’s about to send, choose Approve or Reject, then Submit. When you reject, you can add a reason for the assistant.

“A tool from a server you connected ran earlier in this reply, and its output may be steering this request. This image tool costs credits. Allow it to run?” A connected server’s tool ran earlier in this reply. Its output could be trying to trigger a paid image. Approve only if you asked for that image.

“An app shown in this chat wants to send a message as you…” An interactive app from a connector, shown inside the chat, wants to act for you. Read what it wants to send, and confirm only if that’s what you want.

“An app shown in this chat wants to run the tool “…” as you…“ The app wants to run one of its tools for you. The prompt names the tool, and may say “This tool costs credits.” Confirm only if that’s what you want.

“This request expired or was already handled.” You answered an approval that had already timed out, or you’d already answered it in another tab. Send your message again.

“Something went wrong submitting your decision. Please try again.” Your Approve or Reject didn’t reach us. Click it again.

“Error” (a pop-up when you save a server) Aderra refused the server. Check each of these:

  • The URL starts with https:// and uses the standard port. Addresses with another port, such as :8080, are refused.
  • The server type is streamable HTTP. WebSocket and SSE servers can’t be added.
  • You’re on a paid plan.
  • You have fewer than 10 servers. Remove one to add another.
  • You haven’t added or changed servers many times in the last few minutes. If you have, wait and try again.
  • We couldn’t check your plan just then. Try again in a moment.

“Connection attempt to the provided MCP server failed…” Aderra couldn’t reach the server, or couldn’t read its tools. Check the URL, the server type and any sign-in settings, and make sure the server is online.

“MCP server ‘…’ needs authentication. Reconnect to continue…” Your sign-in to that server has expired. Reconnect it from the Connectors page. If that fails, revoke Aderra’s access in the other app and connect again.

“OAuth login timed out for …” The sign-in to that server wasn’t finished in time. Start the connection again and complete the sign-in.

In the terminal, messages appear as Claude Code, Codex or Aderra Agent prints them, usually after an error code.

“Terminal and API access (Claude Code, Codex, API keys) are included from the Plus plan…” You’re on Free and used a terminal key. Chat in the app keeps working. The terminal needs Plus or above.

“invalid api key” or “unauthorized” The key is wrong, or it was revoked. Create a new one on the Connect page (for the terminal) or the Developers page (for the API). In the terminal, sign in again with aderra login. In your own code, replace the key.

“Your API wallet does not have enough credits for this request…” API keys draw on the prepaid API wallet, not your plan. Top it up on the Developers page.

“This API key has reached its monthly spending cap (… of … credits)…” You set a monthly cap on this key. Raise or remove it on the Developers page, or use another key. Caps reset on the 1st of each month (UTC).

“This API key is limited to … requests a minute. Try again in … seconds…” Slow down, or raise the key’s limit on the Developers page.

“Your account already has … requests in progress across its API keys…” Too many requests are running at once across all your keys. Wait for one to finish.

“You already have … active API keys, the most one account can hold…” Revoke a key you no longer use, then create a new one.

“Could not generate a key.” or “Failed to create API key.” The key wasn’t created. Try again in a moment.

“Unable to login with the information provided. Please check your credentials and try again.” The email or password is wrong. Check both, or use Forgot Password?.

“Too many login attempts in a short amount of time. Please try again later.” Wait five minutes, then try again.

“Your account has been temporarily banned due to violations of our service.” This happens automatically after too many rejected requests in a short time. It lifts on its own after two hours. If you think it’s a mistake, contact us.

“Authentication failed. Please check your login method and try again.” Signing in with Google didn’t work. If you’re creating a new account, the email domain may not be accepted, or too many accounts were created from your network. Try again later, or sign up with email.

“There was an error attempting to register your account. Please try again.” The sign-up didn’t go through. The words that follow say why:

  • “The email address provided cannot be used. Please use a different email address.” Disposable email addresses are refused. Use a permanent one.
  • “Too many accounts created, please try again after … minutes” Too many accounts were created from your network. Wait and try again.

“Please complete the verification check and try again.” or “Verification failed. Reload the page and try again.” The anti-bot check on the sign-up form didn’t pass. Reload the page and complete the check again.

“Verification is temporarily unavailable. Try again in a minute.” The anti-bot check couldn’t be reached. Wait a minute and try again.

“Payments aren’t enabled on this deployment yet.” or “Crypto payments are not available right now.” Paying online is switched off for the moment. Write to us if you need a plan now.

“Could not open the crypto checkout. Try again in a moment.” The payment page didn’t open. Nothing was charged. Try again.

“Crypto payment cancelled. Nothing was charged.” You left the payment page before paying.

“Payment received. Your credits land once the network confirms it — usually a few minutes.” This isn’t an error. Wait a few minutes, then refresh the Plan page. If nothing arrives after an hour, tell us.

“Your … plan is paid until …. You can switch plans after it ends.” Plans paid with crypto are prepaid terms. You can extend the plan you have, but you can’t switch to another plan until the current term ends.

“This plan can’t be paid with crypto for that billing period.” Try the other billing period, Monthly or Yearly.

“Enter a dollar amount, like 20 or 12.50.”, “The minimum is …”, “The maximum is …” The custom top-up amount isn’t valid. The line under the box shows the allowed range.

“Your plan couldn’t be loaded. Refresh to try again.” Refresh the page. If it keeps happening, tell us.

“That address doesn’t look right for this method.” The payout address doesn’t match the payout method you chose. Check both.

“That didn’t match. Try again.” To change payout details, you must confirm it’s you. What you entered was wrong.

“Too many attempts. Try again in 15 minutes.” Wait 15 minutes before confirming again.

“Could not load the affiliate program. Try again in a moment.” Refresh the page in a moment.

“Skipped file(s) over the … MB size limit: …”, “File size limit exceeded: … MB” or “Total file size limit exceeded: … MB” The file, or all your files together, are too big. Attach a smaller file, or split it.

“Empty files are not allowed.” The file has no content. Check you picked the right file.

“Some files from this conversation could not be restored. Reattach the files and try again.” Attach the files again, then resend your message.
